Gmail is one of the best services of Google. One Gmail account provides access to all Google services. Not only that, Gmail is one of the best email service providers on the internet. It’s so useful it is so user-friendly, we cannot think of anyone who would want to get rid of this service. But apparently, there are a few people out there who do want to deactivate their Gmail account. They would probably want to open a new one.

Anyway, in today’s article, we are going to talk about how to deactivate your Gmail account. By deactivating your Gmail account, we mean deleting your Gmail account from existence.

Steps to Delete a Gmail Account

Follow all steps to deactivate your Google account.

  • Step 1

Go into your Google account. You must be logged in to your Google account to delete your account. Enter your Email address or password and then log in.

  • Step 2

Once you have logged in, click on the options menu that is presented by the grid icon. From there, click on the “accounts” option. This will take you to another page. You will be presented with a table of information and options.

  • Step 3

From there, find the “accounts preference” option. Inside the preferred option, you will see the “delete your account or services” option below. It will be the last option on that list.

  • Step 4

When you click on that, you will see another menu. You will be brought to another page. A box will be on the screen with some options. However, over to see what these options mean. Click and select the “delete products” option to proceed with the deletion.

  • Step 5

Google will now ask for your password. Enter your password. Log in to your account once again.

  • Step 6

This time when you log in, you will be presented with an option to download your data. If you do not want to lose all your data, you can download them. This is optional. Be warned that this will cause all the data in your Gmail account to be deleted permanently.

  • Step 7

On the next page, you will be presented with another box. It will tell you that you can now proceed to your account deletion, and your Gmail account will be right at the bottom of the box. There will be a “trash can” button next to it.

  • Step 8

Google will now ask you to enter an alternate email address. This can be your other email addresses. Do not give an email address that you cannot access. You can buy Bulk Google Accounts if you need them in the future.

  • Step 9

Google will now send a verification message to that email address. Your alternate Gmail or Email address will receive a message.

  • Step 10

Open that email from Google. It will carry a deletion link. Click on the deletion link.

  • Step 11

After following the deletion link, you will be presented with a choice. Choose yes I want to delete my Gmail account. Click done, and the process will be finished.

And there you go, your Gmail account has been deleted.
